It sounds like you have purchased a lemon.

You have body weld issues (highly concerning), what sounds like a faulty transmission, multiple leaks. If I didn't know any better I'd guess that the ABS and transmission issues are caused by the water problem in some capacity.

People have gone to lemon lawyers and won for less. I know someone who, months before the recall, went to a lemon lawyer for his brand new CT5 because of a recurring transmission issue that led to a full replacement. If I were you, I'd consider my options.

None have replied to my question: are you leaving the car with the parking brake engaged and it moves when you turn on the engine?
This couldn't happen, the safety rules on this matter are strict: the wheel cannot rotate by a millimeter, you can see the chassis moving because of the engine vibration, but the wheels mustn't move.
It this is what it's gonna happen, it's a defect and it must be fixed asap.. it's not just an annoyance, because it means that the parking brake (not just the gearing) isn't doing that's supposed to do.

Yes, the parking break is engaged. It feels like the drivetrain is causing the kick which is a strong enough jolt that you feel it through the whole car. I've not seen if it causes the wheels to move, but with how hard it kicks, I wouldn't be surprised to see movement. It doesn't happen every time, and it doesn't happen on a cold start ever. It's only once the engine is warmed up and the car has been off for a short period of time, maybe around 20 minutes or so?

I've seen in other posts that someone mentioned that the car is actually moving... that's my concern.

I was thinking the same thing.

I'm curious how the lemon laws work with a used car though.

The way you initially described it, you made it sound like the car was moving forward. If the wheels aren't moving, then what do you been by "kicking forward"?

A jolt, a kick, a buck, I'm not sure how to describe it. It's not too similar to a manual stalling and kicking forward and rolling, but it's a very heavy jolt that shakes the whole car. It happens right at start up so the car is in park and the parking brake is engaged, so for all I know, it may move the wheels if it were in neutral! Haven't been able to replicate it that finely, nor have I thought to try.

But yes, a strong jolt through the entire car. Not a small one that your passenger would ignore or miss if they didn't know what to look for. A strong jolt that makes your passenger look over to you and you have to tell them it's the horse bucking under the hood.

Take a video next time you start it up.

I'll see if I can dig some up again. I googled "Mustang transmission clunk when starting."

Been there done this with the roll forward on start up and clang/bang/boom... And by the way, IT WILL Not Move at all with the E-Brake on, but you will still hear the noise. See Ford TSB # SSM52428 Attachment bring it to the dealership get it fixed. From what I have seen it seems to be the pass. side axle that needs to be replaced.

Nice. The OP mentioned his dealer didn't know the cause. After reading this, I have to wonder if their is some dealer ineptitude making repairs worse than they should be.

I was wondering about the handbrake and being in park or not. If both are used, there's no way the car could actually move forward. The trans is mechanically locked, and so are the drive wheels.

LouG ... Nothing to do with the tires or wheels, its about the backlash of the axle and hub sticking together and when the engine starts the shock load coming from the drive shaft releases the free play that causes the Bang...

Car "shacking" because it wants to move forward, but NOT moving, is a thing (a bad thing, but related to the gear and transmission). But the car actually moving (even by few inches) while the parking brake is engaged is different, and a major safety concern. That's why I've asked... to be sure about the actual issue.
