If it were me; I'd contact the State's Attorney General's Office/Consumer Protection Division (assuming CA has one) and see what my rights and entitlements are under the law. Sure sounds like a "lemon" issue/s to me.

Seriously; I think you're better off shed of "that" mustang. Best of luck getting it sorted to your satisfaction!

PS: At this remote distance; I'm none too impressed with your dealers reaction/response to your issues either.

LouG ... Nothing to do with the tires or wheels, its about the backlash of the axle and hub sticking together and when the engine starts the shock load coming from the drive shaft releases the free play that causes the Bang...
Sounds right. When the OP said it jumped forward, it confused the issue a bit.

I haven't noticed any movement... Just a "clunk" that my passenger and I can feel. It hasn't done it lately, but it's been cooler where I live. We'll see when the temps rise. This issue aside, I think its an awesome car.

you should just sell it back to the dealer you bought it from or trade that in like the previous owner did, before it’s too late.
You might try for the LEMON LAW?
I believe if there was Welds missing from the Factory it could be a Safety Hazard..
I would give it a try.
Could you PLEASE give us the Blend data and the Invoice date?
Maybe there may be some others in the same Boat?
Sorry to hear this.
Good Luck.
No one deserves this.

Granted, this is from an F150, but this is the sound I heard in my Mustang a few times. I didn't remote start it, so I can't verify any driveshaft movement. Also, the issue is intermittent.

Noises are hard to locate in a drivetrain, you need to get the vehicle in the air and hunt for them The best tool I used was a stethescope with a long probe screwed into the end. Putting that against the suspect area made the job much easier.
A long screwdriver is almost as good, just hold the handle end against your ear.

Based on the OPs discription, I don't think a stethoscope or screwdriver are necessary lol.

I had the same issue with mine not starting and throwing all kinds of codes with around 300 miles on it. The dealer replaced the gateway module and it's been fine ever since. I now have about 3,400 miles on the odometer.

What's a gateway module?
