Drive it off the lot and expect to loose $10,000.

I'm OK with that. I got the car new and not after it was abused.

I could live with $10k, not $30k in 6 months. Car is paid off but it still feels like I lost a small fortune.

Somebody plowed into me, otherwise it was going to be a forever car, but now it doesn't drive the same and it rattles like hell, the Magnaride feels shot. Even fixed the price difference on Carmax trade in/sell is only a couple thousand difference. Just feels like a complete rip off for a $70k vehicle with every performance option

Hate to get rid of it but maybe that's the smarter play than take a Carfax and insurance hit if I file a claim. Can't even trade it in for a base GT premium without shelling out another $10k, and once you've had PP and Magnaride, hard to go without them

So you don't think being in an accident has anything to do with the depreciation?

I tried it with and without on CarMax and it was only a couple thousand dollar difference between accident and no accident so I haven't filed the claim yet until I decide whether to take the risk and get it fixed but worried the rattling won't go away and the suspension will never be as tight and keep it or eat $30k on a 6 month old vehicle with another $7k in window tint, ppf, ceramic coat down the drain and get something else. Losing almost$40k is killing me tho, never had a car depreciate by almost half not even 1 year old. Just don't understand why mine depreciated so much when I see others online with less features and more miles selling for $10-20k more

It is race red with NPP,401A, PP, Magnaride, vert, beautiful car but I'll never buy new again, feel like a fool

It sounds like you don’t want to be out of the money so keeping it will be your best option. You may need to get a lawyer involved to make sure it gets fixed 100% correctly and you get money back for diminished value after an accident.

Well.......I don't see mustangs, camaro's, chargers or vette's in any of those reports......that's a good thing.
Camaro is actually one of the lowest depreciating cars over the last 5 years.

IME: The highest optioned cars lose the most out of the gate.

Cars are bad "investments".
That's what it looks like. I haven't bought new in 10 years so found out the hard way. I was planning to never sell tho until the car first got keyed and now this wreck. Between it needing to be repainted and now repaired, I'm not sure if it's best to cut my losses and move on or attempt to get it back to factory new, if that's even possible now.

1st carvana always has best "buy" offers. Look at corvettes! people paid 10-20k "market adjustment fee"? and now you can buy a 24 with 10k miles for low 60's!! dont worry the 25s wont be heavily discounted. and probably low production numbers with lack of work force! nobodys spending in this inflated economy so habits have tightened. thanks to current biden/obama/clinton administartion.....

once america sota gets back on track.
sota?

I just traded my '24 GT in for a Hellcat and lost my ass on the GT in terms of depreciation. A lot of cars are down in value though. My Hellcat was basically brand new with a sticker price in the mid 80s and I got it for not much more than the MSRP on the GT which is the mid 60k range.

My GT depreciated by $25k in 6 months, don't even know how that is possible. I paid MSRP just under$68k and the CarMax/Carvana is offering me $42k. Stealerships tried to offer me $35-38k. Absolutely ridiculous.

Mine got keyed and hit. I also wanted to trade in the vert for a fastback so I can track it, but it may be worthwhile just to get it fixed and keep it.

Your GT didn’t depreciate $25K in 6 months. You paid too much to start with by ~4-5 grand, so knock that off your 25K. And you have some milage accumulated to, so deduct that from the $25K. Then there’s the accident and painting incidents that are a part of your cars’s permanent record. All that must be accounted for. Then factor in that you’re trying to sell or trade it to a reseller who will pay you no more than wholesale. Plus, the dealer or potential buyer can sense your frustration and he’s gonna take advantage of it. Factor all that in and you probably lost no more than 10 grand in real money, worst case. If you want to minimize your “loss”, stop whining long enough to sell your car at retail on your own and you may get down to the 6-7K range.

I just traded an immaculate 1200 mile ’24 GT to a dealer last week on a new DH and close as I can figure I maybe lost 7K. I expected this and felt OK with it. But I’m proactively smart and know what I’m doing, and it shows to a dealer.

Listen, trading and wholesaling cars to a dealer or reseller is a dog-eat-dog blood sport at best. Nowhere is the Principle of Natural Selection more in evidence, and judging from the nature and tone of your posts about this I’d say that’s what you’re experiencing. Ain’t nothing wrong with resale on your Mustang; don’t blame the car. Look elsewhere.
