Why so many S650s on Carmax?

It took years to be able to tune a C8.

Loved my C7 Z06, but it had plenty of its own issues (overheating, warping brake rotors, etc) that made me get rid of it.
True but with the Mustang being a more popular car to modify as far as volume goes I naively figured we'd have tuning of some sort by now.

Not sure what everyone is saying about the inability to tune these cars Magnuson/Roush already have 2 different superchargers for them, Tremec has a gated 8 speed transmission and Torson has multiple gear configurations that can be used all of which comes with software upgrades to go along with them

There is no custom tuning also Roush only has 1 blower. If you just want to bolt on a blower and go yes there are options using Fords tuning but those that want to use Lund, JPC, or a local tuner can't.

I wouldve hated to buy a S650 at or over MSRP.

I bought mine on a total whim. Was just looking through Mustang stuff on my iPad and saw this at a nearby dealer. The combination of black, red and bronze really accentuated the new styling and it just set me on fire. My wife failed to discourage me and a couple hours later it was home.

Itā€˜s a great car and I really like it. But reality has set in. I have three others and I really canā€™t say grace over four, so one has to go. May be this one, maybe not. I havenā€™t decided yet.

Stuff happens. People do dumb things and have to pay the price. But it certainly isnā€™t a reflection on a great car.

You cannot custom tune the S650 yet.

@precision1k .... I think it is a variety of reasons. If you can pay cash then you likely won't sell unless you didn't do any homework and if you have cash you are probably smart enough to have done your homework. I think low mileage sales are for a variety of reasons. Some are demos or daily rentals that dealers want to unload. Most are likely bad choices by purchasers either impulsive purchases or purchasers not factoring in how much they are paying for a vehicle that is basically a toy .... not being negative but it's a 2 seater sports car - can the purchaser afford that in today's economy (car payment, insurance, maintenance, gas)? Then there are lay-offs and pay freezes. Any Mustang from a GT to a DH is a fairly expensive car. I do not believe it is any reflection on the car, more like bad luck or bad choice by the purchaser. BTW.....Here's one for you..... My local Ford dealer had a gorgeous DH. It sat on the lot for about 7 months. I was in the other day and said you finally sold it? No, they - are you ready for this - sent it to auction. WT_ ..... I thought dealers would send a car that wasn't moving to another dealer or swap it for a Bronco or something ..... but to auction?......BTW ll I forgot to add if the owner lives in an area where the weather makes them store it for 4 or 5 months then that could be a huge issue - monthly car payments and up to $1,000.00 a month for a secure, sprinklered storage space. That could be too just much expense for some owners to face and when the realize the reality it's for sale.

Well put, value for the s650 is not there at the new prices theyā€™re selling it for. Sales for 2023 calendar year were already middling when compared to new model launches, Iā€™d be curious to see how they fare next year as well

Yeah, but there are only four model year 2023s and seven 2022s. In comparison that seems like a lot of 2024s particularly since that's the current model year.
I believe the Economy has something to do with it.
These Pony Cars are not inexpensive.
Please remember the 2024 Mustang's, regardless of model, are ALL under Factory Warranty if under 36,000 miles.
Remember when you drive your new Mustang off the Dealerships lot you loose, Mucho Dinero. šŸ’°

A lot of mass layoffs across all sectorsā€¦ you go from making 60-80k/yr or more to a pink slip and that $1,000/mo car payment is the 1st thing to goā€¦

mustangs are toys, not staplesā€¦ shows the average 2024 buyer may have been swimming over there head..

next will be houses.. but probably a few more years to crystallize

one of the main reasons i ordered my 24 was people still wanted EVEN more for 18-23sā€¦ that seems to be washing out finally.
This and the fact they could really never afford that 1k per month toy.
