#1 Overpriced. Further down the list things like bad styling choices, no mods, and those horrible screens are dragging it down. Targeting the new generation with many of these changes...new generation can't afford these cars. Steep discounts are available on the imposter mustang from what I see locally so that probably feeds into that one doing ok in conjunction with it being a grocery getter. Pricing is the biggest culprit here, but current mustang owners are not biting on the S650...too little real world performance changes to the S550 and the styling stuff is not resonating either.
Yup. Considering it’s become premium to take the 911 approach, we already knew it was going to be a slight uphill battle for a refreshed S550.

DH is cool but they should’ve just made that tremec standard across the board and tried to shed weight somehow. At the moment a price decrease or some incentives would be a quick boost.

The "softening" of the consumer and dwindling appeal and demand for an American Muscle Car. I for one did my part to keep it alive, though it's only a matter of time.

I love my 650, IMO well worth $50K I spent. From my first 88 GT Foxbody 35 years ago, this is my favorite Mustang yet, a blast to drive every time I get behind the wheel. No Regrets

Same. This is Mustang #9 for me and my absolute favorite. I mod almost all my cars but other than throttle tip-in I think this is the pinnacle of Mustangs.
My opinion of course.

All new BMWs (supra included) are locked as well. I am not up to date on BMW tuning I remember hearing you can send out your ECU to a foreign country to have it unlocked and or tuned. Again that sounds like a pain and how many mustang owners would really do this? Tuning is a thing of the past if you ask me.
you're out of touch with the car aftermarket...

there are forums full of bmw owners modifying and tuning their cars and not just installing brake caliper covers and arguing about having half a quart too much or too little oil

I bought my car in April - MSRP was $59,795.
The exact same build on the website is now $66,825. That is a $7,000 increase for the exact same car! They are pricing these cars into extinction!
I absolutely love my car but it is not an almost $70,000 car.
And for $70,000 I’d be stupid to not consider my other options.
It really is that simple.

May be so. but I still stand by my statement. I do think the locked ECU effects sales marginally. The percentage of buyers actually tuning a brand new mustang is very small.

People still modding and tuning gas cars for drag huh?

no they are arguing over how many parking spots do you take up when you park, how to make my car sound like a Whoopi cusion when it shifts, what’s this flashing light people use when changing lanes or turning, and how many cars did i almost hit today cause i act like im the only one on the road.

@Upacurb ..... people who couldn't travel or go to restaurants during covid spent a lot of cash on boats, cars etc. Personal debt is at an all time high. The Mustang is essentially a two seater toy. When the economy gets rolling again so will Mustangs off the line. EVs have been heavily subsidized via rebates and cheap electricity prices. Many jurisdictions have or are about to implement road taxes for EVs because they don't pay those at the pump and their extra weight damages roads faster. Insurance companies are about to levy substantial price increases to cover the those fire magnets. Condo corps are starting to forbid parking them in common garages. Couple that with the massive fraudulent EV mileage claims that consumers are now aware of and don't worry about Mustang EVs outselling our ICE Mustangs for long. All this will soon pass and our beloved V8s will be fine.

The economy is trash, no real year over year wages increase and the price of the S650 premium is very high ($55K). Price the GT Premium at 45K and the base at 39K and then sales will go up 20%.

I have been a Mustang owner for the past 31 years, and consider myself a Ford enthusiast. I talk to a few Mustang friends throughout the year who are decades long enthusiasts like I am and overall I see people who don’t like
-prices
-the “all new” S650 REFRESH
-auto start/stop
-lack of tuning
-screens
-prices
-mt82
-mt82 gear ratios

it seem to me that many enthusiasts are really digging the S550 these days,
Are people not liking the big screen going all the way across? Is that the complaint?

55K’ish for a premium GT with almost 500 HP is a relative bargain - IMO

The average price of a new car today is almost 50K. Think about that for a sec. A plain Jane, average, boring car that gets you from point A to point B with no soul is 50K. 50 Freakin K lol.

50K is nothing anymore. I remember when 50K was big boy bucks for a salary, let alone a new car price.

I’d argue a 55K Mustang GT is an impressive bargain still!! Just my 2 cents.

It’s really just a customer demographic shift…

The mustang buyer of years past is today’s Toyota Camry buyer.
Nothing to do with price or tuning etc…
And it’s not going to change, race tracks are getting killed off everywhere, driving “for pleasure “ is not a thing and seen as wasteful by the newer generation.

Hell, cruising in general is basically illegal where I’m at with cops hustling everybody.

Cars are dead, enjoy what’s left of cars n coffee and the Sunday car show scene, it basically all dies with us.

Also go test drive a new Camry….

- Mustang is no longer a 'best bang for your buck' car. It outpriced itself
- Minimal changes from the s550 to s560 at first glance
Totally agree. You are now easily in a $50k-$60k range equipped while interest rates are high. And people who already own a S550 don't really get that much more car as a reason to trade in. Good friend of mine owns a 18 GT and actuallly wanted to trade in for a 24 GT or DH, but ended up just keeping his car since he would have to invest $20k for the trade in for a quite similiar car.

I actually think the sales are totally ok for the current market. We can be very happy that Mach-E is successfull since Ford stated multiple times the good EV sales allows them to sell a V8 Mustang with all the fleet pollution bs carmakers have to comply with.

If I hadn't of owned a Ranger already, I would not have purchased a 2024 Mustang. Here are a few salient points. The 2019 Ranger replete with Borla-supplied, Ford exhaust system, is at least 20dB quieter than the 2024 Mustang Eco-Boost's stock system! The Mustang's ride is harsher by far, than the Ranger. The Ranger's over all driving experience is heads above the Mustang's. You don't sit in the Mustang, you wear it! Its ingress and egress is difficult in comparison, which is a major consideration if you're on date. I've owned the Mustang since the first of September, and I'm still under 1,200 miles on the OD. Never been out of town with it, but I can't imagine driving it across country unless I put in my ear plugs.

Yes, the Mustang is fun to drive, but as I've said several times here on the forum, the Ranger is within .2 seconds to 60 because it is tuned and piped. Ford, in their infinite wisdom, has seen fit to lock down all of their current lineup. This includes the F150 Raptor and RaptoR. The only (real) question is why? Heck! They don't even monitor this forum anymore, so these words and others like them, won't see the light of day! We are diminished!
