So I guess now that we have exhausted all of the reasons for the Mustangs poor sales we are going to beat EV’s to death again? 🤭
The multitude of choice reduces the propensity for one.

Back in the 60's the Mustang 6 cylinder was a secretary's car. It was affordable but up north required snow tires. Young girls don't buy Mustangs since the foreign makes give you front wheel drive/all wheel drive, great fuel economy, and in some cases the utility of a SUV.
Young guys will buy a "MACHO" pickup rather than a Mustang. Or the younger car guy or girl who have the money want a BMW. Those folks between 40 and 60 have families and no use for a Mustang. So many of those who are loyal Mustang fans are older and remember the days or want to relive the days. Demographics have changed the Country. Mustang Sally now drives a Toyota RAV 4. Her brother has a Subaru WRX. There are so many choices. Maybe a four-door AWD Mustang is the future. Maybe the EV is our future but at this point there's still many questions that are unanswered about the EV. I'm 78. I hope I can run out the warranty on my 24 GT, then I'll worry about an EV.

RS was pretty popular, had a bunch of WRX guys trying to move their community over to the Ford side with waves and vapes. Maybe they should bring that back. 😂

The tuning and price are the biggest reasons I’m seeing. Interest rates and the economy have a big part to play as well. I also think for many who had S550s the car wasn’t that much of a difference for them other than looks.
I believe the economy & tdouble digit inflation was a major effect on the Mustang.
I have a Mach-E and it’s really fast. And is fun overall. The only thing you miss with an EV is the pure raw sound of a V8 and the exhaust note. Also Teslas look like bland eggs in terms of shape.

To me, owning both a V8 and an EV…the V8 wins in terms of overall fun factor. Also with a traditional ICE vehicle there are way more choices in terms of style, design, and special purpose vehicles.

To each their own- EVs can be fun and have great tech … but it’s hard to replace a wild sounding V8/V10/V12 IMO.
Enjoy racing EV,s.
I can’t win & get off the Gas ⛽ Pedal, quickly.
I do that because I Retired from a Power Plant.
They have to charge their EV sooner than they wanted to.

Here, GM is considering a new Camaro IF they can make it affordable. I think it becomes obvious that pricing is a key element and that the formula for the pony class segment has always been affordability (first) and performance (second). Hopefully they can figure it out and release a new generation. However, if it doesn't have a V8 I'm not interested.

Please tell me that don’t believe any of the BS in this article. I’m not saying that there couldn’t be another Camaro but one that’s significantly less expensive with a V8. That’s a pipe dream.

this whole thread is ridiculous. The other pony/muscle cars are legislated out of existence by the woke governments position. That is about to change. Will they come back? Maybe. Everything costs more now, get over it. With the "average" new car now about 50K, a new Mustang at 60k is a smoking deal. Don't like it or can't afford it? Get a better job or buy something else.
But the problem is you can, arguably, get a better car for the same price as some Mustang trims…

arguably is the key word here. Some of us wouldn't want a high priced German car no matter the price/value ratio.

I think there are multiple issues. Many of which have already been stated. But the biggest issue is that Ford did not learn from history.

Remrmber the 2010-2015 Camaro? Thst thing sold incredibly well for a Camaro. Put the mustang behind it in sales too. Then 2016 came along and what did Chevy do? They kept it the same! Sure it was smaller, lighter, faster, and handled better. But overrall, it looked the same and felt similar on the inside. It seemed like a refresh of the old model.

so here comes Ford, watching the Camaro ACTUALLY DIE from this mistake… and they do the exact same thing! Sure the platform has a few new band aids, the sheeetal has a couple new creases, but overrall, it looks and feels like it’s the same old car. Even worse, it IS the same old car. At least the Camaro actually went with a new platform snd big performance jump over the previous gen. The current mustang is just the same old generation but it inexplicably costs a lot more.

it was inevitable that this generation would fail. I’ve posted elsewhere how the sales have been bad even from launch.

there’s a reason for that. People want a NEW mustang that pushes looks and performance forward. We never got that. All we got was a tired, minimal effort money grab.

almost as if Ford knew they were killing the car with these decisions, they started distracting by naming everything else “Mustang” and diluting the brand.

most recently we’ve heard chatter about a new 4 door grocery getter and off road vehicle getting the Mustang name.

it all adds up to Ford having no clue what to do with the real mustang.

The only way to fix the issue is to overhaul the team. Get rid of the weirdos pushing to do the minimum with the 2+2, those who push for SUVs, door factories, and rally cars,…

and form a team of smart people who actually care about the car and have the passion to propel it forward in a compelling way.

We don’t need people trying to change what the mustang is. We need people who know what it is and are committed to making it the best 2+2, bang for the buck that looks and performs in an exotic way without charging exotic prices. We shouldn’t have to pay 150k for todays equivalent of the terminator or 80k for todays equivalent of the ‘93 Cobra.

everyone here has some real, grassroots takes on the problems. They’re valid.

but the only way we see anything done is if Ford gets real. Unfortunately there are too many weirdos in the boardroom at the moment, throwing stuff at the wall, hoping something will stick thst validated them as something special. Just be glad you are in that position snd start focusing on making THE CAR special. That will earn you more cred than anything.

Ford needs a John Collette type to stir the pot. We’ve seen a lot of change, a lot of social experiments, etc. in the USA the last 5 years or so. It’s been a disaster. But people have already indicated in a massive way that it’s time to get back to common sense, hard work, and reap the rewards.

A few with their great ideas and 'obvious' ways Ford need to change / improve the Mustang need to realise that the Mustang is 2% (by number) of Ford US sales and less than 0.5% of Ford global sales. No company throws huge amounts of money at a legacy minority product. Be grateful it exists at all! It only exists because the platform and tooling are largely written down and being re-used.

Yes, we are grateful it is still being sold. The main reason it is still being sold is because it's a big profit item with those high prices!

What about a C8 Stingray Z51 versus a Mustang DH?
