Well, Q4 might just be an anomaly for the EV market because the threat of EV incentives going away might have pulled forward some future demand.

I think the most impressive manufacturer as far as retail sales, profit margins, days supply, etc. is definitely Toyota. Lexus has exceeded their 2019 sales volume already and Toyota is very close to pre-pandemic volume. When you consider they have the lowest days supply out of all the major competitors - that's impressive. That means they can still continue to increase production volume because the demand is still there.

The same can't be said for Ford and GM. I would imagine that if they continue to increase volume they're going to have to increase incentives in order to move all that inventory.

My car as a 2024, MSRP $58,515

as a 2025 . $63,850

Increase of $5335

And what have they done to improve the 25 over the 24 i have?

Nothing

Increased the cost of the 401A package by deleting the radio option so you are laying out another $995 for the formerly included B&O sound system

Spare tire went up a C note

Tri coat red went up $500 and the color sucks

Add the Doc fee most dealers are going to nail you for and a GT Premium ragtop with a couple of options is now over $64 grand

And these cars depreciate like a rock

You know what $64000 dollars buys?

A really nice low mileage used 2022 C8 Corvette

Add a couple of grand more and I'm in a low mileage 2023 C8

It would by me a 3000 mile 2013 Vette Z06 and I'd still have $27000 in my pocket

Ford is out of their minds thinking people will keep ponying up that type of cash for these cars

Stop being so Neggytive! Lol. All joking aside, it’s a great car and still a relatively great value for the buck considering the performance and lack of competition. But at a certain point, if the price keeps climbing it’ll make zero sense fairly quickly.

$64,000 also buys a brand new 2025 C8 1LT with no options. MSRP is $69,995 but aren't the big Corvette dealers doing a 10-13% discount?

If I wanted to buy a Corvette I would have. Then I would have joined a Corvette forum. I didn't, I wanted the '24 mustang DH. That's what I bought and joined a mustang forum. There are a lot of other options that I could have spent my money on, but I bought what I wanted.

I'm happy for you and I'm sure you made the right decision for yourself. However, the majority of customers want what's best for the buck but that's no longer the case for the Mustang. In addition, car prices have been increased way over inflation levels. In Europe we had something like 23% over the last 10 years but car prices have gone up by up to 50%... That's corporate greed and never works in the long run. I'm sure they would sell much more cars and make much more money if they would stick to the Mustang formula, which is an affordable V8. 65000$ is nowhere near affordable for most if the average new car price was around 25000$ only a couple of years ago.

Inflation kills wealth and unfortunately most people can now afford significantly less than they could a couple of years ago. Only a minority increased their income effectively over the last few years. Most are a worse off than before.

While what you saying is true, I think you missed the point of my post. The point was to say this is a mustang forum that seems to be infiltrated with a bunch of individuals that keep trying to convince us to buy Corvettes. I am not here to talk about Corvettes, lol.

Although we would like to Ford has no idea what they are doing, we would be wrong. The Mustang is on its way out, period. Regardless of what anyone says. Raising prices to increase profits makes perfect sense on a car that means nothing to Ford’s bottom line. At some point reduced production will force Ford to kill it. It is what it is. As far as competition, there is none anymore. There are other cars, there always have been. If you’re not willing to pay Ford’s price go elsewhere. Buy a Vette, “M” car, BW, etc. But none of them are a Mustang. If you’re on here you know that.

By the way, read this. This man understands. And yes, I know it’s a Shelby.

I agree. Context is key.

Incentives were also given with price drops on the Mach E as well. I watched them sit at a dealer and get marked down. Neighbor bought one because of the deal he got.

Well... The market, is in relatively poor health. Bank interest rates are significantly impacting the purchase of ‘fun’ cars that sacrifice practicality. None of us need a Mustang or Dark Horse, we want them. Ford is SIGNIFICANTLY discounting the Mach E, making the purchase more attractive. They’re not incentivizing buying a GT or Dark Horse. So Ford is telling the market it wants EV Mustangs, not the other way around.

In addition, car prices have been increased way over inflation levels. In Europe we had something like 23% over the last 10 years but car prices have gone up by up to 50%... That's corporate greed and never works in the long run
I don’t attribute all of this to corp. greed, the regulations and compliance in the EU are more difficult to meet and account for.

This.

They are overpricing the Mustang line, but that is likely subsidizing the Mach E discounts.

I’m the kind of person that doesn’t keep ‘em too long. I’m on my second ‘24 and I’ll trade this one when the itch hits. My exact same car is almost 6k more for a ‘25. Safe to assume we’ll see another increase in ‘26. Am I willing to pay 10k more in 2026 for the exact same car? Highly unlikely. I’ve already started looking at other vehicles. If this is the way they want to price Mustangs then the result is obvious.
