One more (of mine) thought. I paid $40,130.68 for my Eco-Boost Premium. That's about one half the cost of a Dark Horse, which doesn't matter, as both sums are a lot of money! Like other owners, I take good care of my vehicles, albeit I'm not anal about doing so. Nonetheless, 4,000 mile oil changes, frequent tire rotations and washing are part of the routine. And so is the use of the best octane pump fuel I can buy. Suit yourself.
Big, big difference between your EB and the Coyote. My EB ran like shit on regular. Turbo’s live and die on octane. Always used 93 and my baby was happy. On the other hand the Coyote doesn’t give a crap ( unless you’re on the track or constantly beating on it). Guys on here have been running 87 for the past decade without issue. Me? I have a garage queen. 16k in just under six years. I can afford whatever I want so I use 93. I do me, you do you, everyone else can do whatever makes them happy.

Your vehicle operates on regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.

Some fuel stations, particularly those in high altitude areas, offer fuels posted as regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating below 87. The use of these fuels could result in engine damage that will not be covered by the vehicle Warranty.

For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer.
That is why I asked, the manual states 87 and then recommends 91.

I did a 10.000 mile roadtrip with the S550 GT.
90% of the time I used 87and I didn't notice any difference.

When I take road trips I fill with 87. When in town I use 93 (Which is 90% of the time)

Not sure what part of this needs an explanation.

“For best overall vehicle and engine performance”.
If you want the full 486 HP you have to use 93 octane. If you don't need the full 486HP you can run 87 octane. Simple explanation.

Have you been satisfied with using the recommended 87 octane? Is there any noticeable upside to burning higher octane?
I ran the 87 while I was breaking in the car because I was not going over 3500 rpm. Figured save money if i don't need it. Once I was over 1500 miles I switched to Sunoco 93 and haven't looked back. Did some E30/E40 testing with no issues but definitely need 93 if your gonna floor it.

When engine shops break new engines in, they definitely take them over 3500rpm

The S650 will add in all the power it can until it picks up knock.

Not 100% accurate since they used octane booster instead of 93, another channel did a similar test but I can't remember who it was.

I use 91-93 octane in all of my Coyote motors as they are high compression motors. I think they're 12.0:1 compression.

Another octane thread??

I definitely can get on it from time to time, but 87 is just fine for my average 37mph back and forth to work.

This is brought up in every thread on gas octane. This is no longer an issue with modern engines with electronic fuel management systems. We’ve progressed a long way since the high compression engines of the sixties and seventies.

In Arizona, most pumps only sell 91 octane and this is what I use every time. Even if it can help the engine a little going forward, I think its defiantly worth the extra money.
