Your car is reporting some codes that coincide with your concern. Most of the time, these codes will reference a certain TSB or SSM that provides a clue to what cold be causing the issue, but that is not the case here. The first code citing ethernet failure between the IPMA and GWM indicates a possible hardware issue. Then there are the lost comms code with several modules directly related to the driver assist features like the CCM and IPMA. This is something that is very difficult to diagnose remotely. I think a dealer visited is warranted in your case.

Thank you very much for all the information, could I ask for information from when these errors started to appear? I have a suspicion that the dealer simply issued me with a faulty car. Thanks in advance.

Codes are stored for 60 days at a time, so more than enough since you car is new. Looks like they've been there since day one.

However, this does not mean they sold you the car knowing this. As a dealer employee for many years, there are many catch 22's we have to deal with when it comes to sales, service and parts and dealing with manufacturers. I won't get into the details, but even if they knew, until a vehicle gets sold, the warranty is not active, so sometimes, there is not way to bill the manufacturer to fix certain things until the warranty is active.

In your case, I am able to see anything that has pulled on this vehicle, and no one had ever checked the codes this car was reporting until I did today.

Thank you very much! This will be a good bargaining chip to talk to the dealer.

No need for chips. Tell them your car is showing some driver assist problems. The car is not reporting and hard faults, so they will have to drive it to replicate the issue. If they can't duplicate the issue, they won't be able to do much. They can see these codes themselves and I am sure they will check them. This is not a "smoking gun" to use against them. I was just giving you the info you asked for.

This system is still awful. Now in google maps I frequently can't hit "ok" or "dismiss" when I search for an address and the route comes up.

Today the system wouldn't leave the screen that pops up when you reverse, but it woudn't show the camera.

Frequent issues with no audio in carplay trying to stream stuff.

At this point I don't know if its just crap QC, the android OS on the headunit being garbage, or apple being mad I'm using a google product (speaking specifically to the carplay issues)

Oh and almost forgot about how slow the graphic is when switching between drive modes.

Either way, how the infotainment system is still this buggy after a year is laughable.

After that same update on 7/2/24, Carplay would connect/disconnect over and over again. Tried the usual tricks with phone etc without success. Had to do hard reset of the Sync system and after adding the phone back again everything has been working since. Was really strange.

I had similar issues for a long time with my 2011 Explorer which was the first to get the Sync 3 system. Basically what you are seeing is what’s known in the software industry as a “memory leak”… the software has bugs in it where it doesn’t correctly release memory after using it (like the memory used for one screen’s information, when you then switch to another). Over time this leaves garbage in memory, and then other code when it is trying to use memory has this old garbage data in there that can screw things up.

Doing the reset clears all of memory which is why it seems to fix things. So it’s usually a good idea to do this every couple months right now…

the good news is that after 2-3 years ford was able to improve things and fix the problems to where I went several years without having to do the reset to get things working right.

It’s just going to take some time…

The attached SSM was sent to all dealers on 5/29. Basically, Ford is aware that Sync has issues even if you are on the latest update. A new APIM update is supposedly coming in Q4 for all vehicles that address the issues.

Seems they are so aware they listed ‘mustang’ twice excluding the mach-e.

If that was the dumbest thing Ford has ever done, we'd be in a much better place right now.

The Mustang Mach-E is listed. Unless you were just pointing out that the Mustang was listed twice IN ADDITION TO the Mach-E.

Surely if @Ford Motor Company is willing to push a half baked piece of software out the door before its ready for release, then they will definitely meet the "q4" target with a comprehensive and effective patch.

Unfortunately it’s the accepted norm. Fully baked went out the window with os/2
