I ran a multi-line BBS (bulletin board system) under OS/2 using Maximus BBS software. That was after years of running T.A.G. BBS software under DOS (multiple machines) and, later, under DESQview. At one point, I had nearly a dozen phone lines @ my house.Same!
It was a great OS way ahead of it's time but with horrible marketing.
Loading ~30 1.44mb diskettes to install it was , ahem, interesting. Especially if it would pop CRC errors on the 25th diskette... lol !!1
Ahh the good old days! I was running Wildcat! and later on PCBBS (I think?) but just to fool around with. I offered shareware and it was a good place for close friends to swap software, sell gear and chat. I think I was running it under DesqView at the time. I did manage to get a heavily discounted US. Robotics HST modem from the company. I remember it had a plate affixed to it to discourage resale. Those were really great times that today's generation missed out on..I ran a multi-line BBS (bulletin board system) under OS/2 using Maximus BBS software. That was after years of running T.A.G. Ahh, the pre-Internet commercialization days.
I still have one of mine ...I did manage to get a heavily discounted US. Robotics HST modem from the company. I remember it had a plate affixed to it to discourage resale.
Absolutely. Those were really great times that today's generation missed out on..
Just checked your VIN. This one is different from the first ABS update first reported in March. I'll add it to the OTA history thread.Couldn’t find this message thread but posted in another OTA thread, but here is what I received overnight ….

Ahhh modems and BBS lol
I had an AT&T 2400 BPS modem that I got from my uncle when I was like 12(ish). Eventually ran a Wildcat BBS (paid for version) then I think I did RABBS and then SuperBBS. Can't remember the order of the last two.
Trade Wars anyone?!?!?!?! No? How about Yankee Trader? LOL
Remeber ECHOMAIL? Where your computer would dial another computer, which was your regional hub, once a day (or whatever you set) and download your mailpackets then extract and index it? How about ZModem Protocol?!?!?!
Ok, we are all officially old as dirt now, all of us!
Days/daze gone by, nntp before http popularity
Oh the memories!!! Mine is long gone :(
