Just stumbled across this.
An interesting look at how the automatic transmission has developed over the years.

The real reason automatics are quicker than manuals

I still choose a manual for the overall engagement and user experience!

It's personal preference!

I can tell you now tthat my DH A10 is not only easier to drive, but quicker even on the street than the manual. I always use the paddles and shifting is pretty fast. Haven't taken to road course yet, but friend said he rented a 19 GT PP A10 and it did well at Willow Springs. I also have had manual Mustangs, but no experience with rev matching.

My DH is a daily driver and this is the second A10 Mustang. Also, driver modes increase the aggressiveness of the A10 shifting.

Hello! I'm currently looking at some automatic and manual cars. Considered the auto and stick Bronco, and this, with either one. What I'm unsure about with both of for one, the auto. What's performance like? I kinda feel like 7 + 3 OD gears would be excessive for a car like this. Also unsure about reliability for auto. For the manual, I do feel like I want the manual, but want to get opinions here first. Not much manuals anywhere near I am at the moment. How much play is in the shifter? Does the engine vibrate the shifter much? Does the engine torque twist shake the shifter? How does the clutch feel? If I were to get the mustang, I'd look at the GT stick.
I have a Dark Horse with the Tremec 6 spd and I love it. Can't speak for the MT 82- D4 6 spd.

I took a huge loss selling my Beautiful 21 Mach 1, multiple tunes to make the 10-speed behave properly.
I didn’t have flaring or delay in shifting so it was healthy. It just doesn’t behave right. Would jerk me forward for no reason coming to stop light, hold gears for no reason, try to get to 10th gear going 40.
4 years and 28k miles I lived with it but deep down knew I needed to be back in a manual.
Now I have a Dark Horse, best manual I’ve ever driven in my life!! I may be slower but look, any electric car around here blows us away anyways.

It highly depends on what you're buying the car for. I have had manuals almost my entire life and love the engagement and additional control they provide. Autos have almost always earned the name "slush box"...

That said, I bought my EB premium as a comfortable and sporty cruiser. The A10 is an amazing auto (IMHO) and I've driven many, many cars from a huge variety of companies. I get, with all the mods I've done, over 30mpg with the A10 and absolutely love it. The different modes are very much noticeable in the behavior of the A10 as well.

Haven't regretted getting the auto even one day since getting my car.

That said, you'd have to be mad to get a GT or DH with an auto.

I have 4 toy cars, 3 Mustangs and a Corvette. two are auto, two are manual, I like them all. I personally think that if it is a daily, with a commute, and auto is the only option.

I have the A10 in mine, which is just a toy. I kind of wish I'd gone with the manual. There's nothing wrong with the auto, but I do miss shifting once in a while.

Next thing coming will be a "STICK SHIFT" option for 10 Speed automatics with true feel of a Manual Shifter and a 3rd Peddle to activate the stick......probably easier than you think then ALL of us will have what we want!!:fingerscrossed::like::)

I’ll start off by saying that a manual isn’t for everyone but since you are even considering a manual…get it. I ordered my ‘24 GT, auto, non PP in March. I drove it Sept-Apr and put nearly 10k miles on it. I just traded into a GT manual with PP in May. Let’s just say that the auto was fun to drive and the manual is a blast to drive! The clutch and shifter are great -zero issues. It really is a completely different driving experience and as long as I stay in a mustang it will have a manual transmission. Good luck with your decision!

Agreed. My first S650 was an Auto. My second and current is a manual which I absolutely love. The shifts are crisp and the downshifts in Sport/Track are intoxicating.

I don't mind the auto, it shifts reasonably well and is quite smooth. And, I didn't have a choice as all manuals were gone. I do miss the crispness of a dual clutch trans though. It would also be good to be able to run the sport shifting protocol in normal mode like you can with VW/Audi trans.
Launch control might be useful too
