Ford should be also doing a Lincoln version of the mustang, ultra premium interior etc…

Like the Cadillac XLR/vette.

Perhaps that generates another 10-20k unit sales for the platform.
Bring back “hot rod Lincoln “ mentality.
Indeed. Easy to do and there will always be customers wanting a little bit more luxury. A bit like the Vignale spec in Europe.

First, you have to have the entry level car to make it financially attractive to keep in production. Most first (or second or third or fourth) Mustangs were not Cobra jets, or Bosses or GTs even, but base model six cylinder cars. You have to spread out the cost, so make a lot of them for everyone who wants one, even if they can't pay for a V8 or pay for the ever rising insurance on one. They need to fix the growing size and weight issue. They need to freshen up the looks....a lot. If a Lincoln Eliminator high end car can be built with much of the same components, then even better. The original was Falcon based, the Mustang II was Pinto based, the Fox was Fairmont based, etc. There has to be a financial case for the car for Ford to keep on going. And for them, it's all about the profits.
What we can do? Is keep buying them. Need a fun weekend warrior, but a GT or Dark Horse or GTD (depending on financial situation). Need a daily, get an Ecoboost. You have to drive something to work every day, it may as well be something cool. And right now, there's nothing cooler on the showroom floor than a Mustang, of any kind.

I think someone spiked your coffee this morning. The number one complaint against today’s Mustang is its high cost. And you think a more expensive one will sell. I’d love to see something along those lines but who do you believe the customer for this will be. And what about cost? Would people really consider a “fancy” Mustang for an addition $10k?

And remember we’ve gone done this path before. Great idea but I think it’s just too late.

Which is why I've shared that more exotic red rendering. A mustang with those proportions would translate to a Lincoln with epic proportions.

Understood. But who’s the buyer. Who is Ford building this for? Unfortunately the market for this type of car has passed. No bean counter would ever approve the budget for this type of vehicle. Need proof? Just look at our S650.

The only people complaining about the price are the poors or people that didn’t buy a 2024..

I don’t think price is as big of a deal as people make it out to be
1. It’s not going to ever get less expensive
2. And it’s Not going backwards as far as technology advancement.

So once all the people who can’t afford it or can’t get onboard with newer tech are discounted, you can focus on higher end customers and better margins, product quality.

Snipe the BMW, AUDI crowd… they have no problems paying 80-90K for 4 cylinders with digital dashboards.

You are definitely in the minority on this forum but I agree with you. The new Mustang not cheap. But what is? Add in the fun factor and it’s still a bargain.

My thought process is the mustang is competing with things like the c8 now, we need to find a way to ensure that people still lust after the mustang even if it's getting more expensive. A radical platform/design/proportional change is the best way to do that imo. Ask yourself which of these cars you'd rather drop 60 grand on.

I must be one of the “poors”. As a former GT500 owner and current 2023 Hellcat and 2024 C8 owner the reason I haven’t bought a 2024 GT or DH is because of the price for a reskinned S550 and performance for the money- and I buy all my Fords/Lincolns at Z-plan.
Maybe I will buy an S650 something someday.

I think you are now one of the poors simply because you have the Cat and C8. Had you not spent 200K for those 2 cars you could easily afforded an S650. Not criticizing (I'd love to have either/both of those). Just sayin

I paid under 152k for both. MSRP on the cat was 86xxxk I paid 80xxxk brand new and MSRP on the C8 was 77335 I paid 71xxx brand new. There was 0 tax on the cat I traded my GT500 and my 1320 on it and I had 2 trades for 26k so I only paid tax on 46k for the C8.

I think you fall in the second group! 🤭👍

Hey if you bought at the perfect time for both of those...

Hellcats were selling brand new in the 50's at one point

C8's have been had for below MSRP

So you could have gotten them both for $120k

this variant of the why this generation is failing posts is hilarious. Why do we, the consumers, need to save the Mustang? Why doesn't Ford, the people who make the damn thing, do something to save it like make a car that is worth buying against their own used cars or other used cars that people are buying? That's the only way any of the v8 muscle cars get "saved"; the OEMs themselves have to take a good long look at themselves and do the work to give a product that says that it is THE best product at the price point. People want to say so much that muscle car fans aren't cross shopping super cars or sedans or SUVs, but at the end of the day it's all about price and value per dollar. Are people gonna overpay for a Mustang? Or are they gonna pay for a value sports car that they can do a lot more in. That really is it
