Last night I tried turning on the lane keep assist feature on my GT while driving on a mountainous section of the interstate. I usually keep it off because in the past I felt as if the lane keep system actually lowered steering resistance towards the side of the line I approach, instead of pushing away from that side. However, last night was extra; it felt as if the steering pulled towards the line and median wall. Has anyone else experienced similar problematic assistive features?

I tried it while driving home from the dealer. It started ping-ponging between the lane markers. I promptly turned it off and haven't' used it since.

I agree with everyone else. I turned it off immediately because of my experience with it on my wife’s Explorer. If you need to quickly avoid something in your lane, it fights you to try and stay in the lane.
I‘m gonna get out on a limb here.

If a person ever turns on lane keep assist for any reason whatsoever (maybe outside of a quick science experiment) they should give serious consideration to public transportation.

It worked quite fine on my S550, and I loved it especially on the highways, it's very useful, and I'm not sure I could be considered one of those who doesn't know how to drive. :D
But on the S650 it's bugged, and on mine (lane assist and lane centering) you cannot disable it permanently: if I try to disable the lane centering it last only for the session (it's also written in the disclaimer), to shut it down permanently I have to disable ALL the "connected" features (so I will lose everything else).

Hence, every time I turn on the car, I've to disable it using the button on the wheel (or via menu). EVERY single time.

The serious consideration about the road transportation should be forwarded to Ford. ;)

It’s incredibly useful only on super long stretches of highway with little traffic- you can turn it on and cruise…. Otherwise its a lot more work than it’s worth because you’re constantly fighting it lol

Thanks for this thread. I thought the Pirelli tires were very suseptible to tramlining. Little did I know that Lane Keeping was selected. OBTW when I went and looked at all the Driver Assist modes, I was shocked at how many there were. Thank god my Cobra has manual everything and no electronic gizmos.

I think the electronic gizmos are pretty cool and very useful… it’s only when the gizmos get in the way of enjoying the car is when they suck lol.

There is something to be said about a car driving experience that is purely visceral that wants to kill you lol - think Dodge Viper!!! Lots of fun but if you don’t know what you’re doing it could cost you a lot more than just a wrecked car…

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the "assist"?

I don't remember at the moment, but if there was a setting, it was surely set to the lowest. I tried everything after had to give up and accept the fact that every time I drive, shutting the system OFF is part of my "starting procedures", at least it's less annoying that having to turn off the speed alert (another crap that you cannot disable permanently): the speed alert needs to have the button pressed for seconds every time; the lane thing is just a double press.
