I have removed the plastic battery cover 3 times on my 2024 GT. Two of the Three OEM pin clip SCREW cowl retainers are broken. I found the exact Ford replacement pin screw clips on Amazon for $13.99 for 20 clips. They fit 👌 perfectly and have positive reviews.

I have one pin where the head is below my cover. How do I get the head on the cover?
The pin screw clip is 2 pieces as you probably know. When inserting the clip both pieces going in from the top side of the cowl cover. The pin should look like this when inserted. Push it in and then turn the top with your finger. No need to do it tight. It sounds like maybe someone put the bottom part of the clip on 1st with the cowl cover off. Then put the cowl cover back on and then put the top part of the screw clip in. Your going to have to take the cowl cover off and reinstall correctly. Use a push pin remover or a plastic pry device or needle nose plyers to remove the bottom of the clip.

Thanks. I didn't even know it was a 2 piece thing. Will take a look after my push pin remover is delivered.

Yes it is 2 pieces and is not made to be taken apart. As you can see when the clip is new out of the box it is ready to push into place and then you turn the top of the pin and since it has plastic threads it screws in and spreads the 3 plastic flaps to hold the cowl cover.

When one of the flaps break as in my case, they do not grip and hold the cowl cover snug.
Here's a photo of a broken one. They have 3 flaps on each pin and when one breaks they no longer hold or grip.

Gotcha, so if I understand correctly the 2 piece clip should not be taken apart when using it correctly. Oh and on this picture I can see that it is like a screw.

Yes correct do not take it apart. Leave it un screwed 1/4 inch like it comes out of the box. That way the bottom 3 flaps are not spread out.

Should they not be one penny a piece?

Thanks for the idea! These are such a flimsy and goofy design, but the upside is that they are easy to remove and are not expensive. I have removed mine a few times and they are definitely failing. I also have been waiting a week to add something to my Amazon cart to qualify for free shipping, so this does the trick! Your link leads to a product that only has 1 rating, so I searched and found a less expensive set with almost 400 ratings (20 for $8.99 at the moment). I'll give these a try: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SF5VKMQ

Good deal. They look exactly like the 20 I purchased but a little less expensive. Nice find.

Correct, although can be reassembled as long as the ‘flap’/leg isn’t broken. Akin to a drywall anchor.

Today I took a second look and I noticed that I miss 1 screw and a second screw is stuck in the hole without clipping the cover.

This means that the people who were shipping the car unscrewed the cover to unplug the battery and did not know how the screws work.

I made a picture of the screw that is stuck and did not want to force it out.

Can I just pull this out of that hole without breaking it?

Turn the screw counter clockwise a couple turns while applying upward pressure using a small pry tool to gently pop it out.
