The S650 Mustang has faced several challenges that have dampened its appeal among fans:

  1. Locked Aftermarket Tuning: Ford implemented a double-key encryption system, making it difficult for enthusiasts to modify and customize their cars. This decision has alienated a core segment of Mustang buyers who value the car's tunability.
  2. Rising Costs: The new Mustang comes with a higher price tag, and with rising interest rates on car loans, many buyers find it hard to justify the expense. For example, the Dark Horse variant costs around $74,000, pushing potential buyers toward older models that offer better value.
  3. Design Reception: The S650's design update has been described as conservative, lacking the immediate "wow" factor that previous generations like the S550 had. This has contributed to a lukewarm reception.
  4. Market Dynamics: The muscle car market itself has been shrinking, with fewer competitors and changing consumer preferences. This broader trend has also impacted Mustang sales. Millennials and younger seem to love 4 door pocket rockets.

And this is just internet noise. Own one then revisit, you will find these are all lies.

Why should I invest a premium amount in a car that possesses only average components? Look at the core sales figures this year in the US, not anywhere else.

The factory-installed components on many Ford Mustangs, including the S650 model, are generally designed for standard use rather than high-performance purposes. These stock parts are intended to strike a balance between cost, comfort, and handling for the typical driver, which may fall short of the expectations of enthusiasts seeking track-ready performance. Additionally, the S650 Mustang's retail price, coupled with dealer markups, does not align with the expectations of the average driver.

The Mustang is a great car- they are trying to move it up market and the market is not responding.....there is a Dark Horse at one of the local dealers by me with a 91K MSRP

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for... Horse&trimCode=MUST|Mach 1&clickType=listing

I mean really good looking car- but at 91K - I'm sorry but thats not even sort of reasonable to me for a Coyote powered Mustang .....Im not sure who at Ford thought this was a good idea to position the car like this.....so many other options at that price.....

A 2020 GT350R was 75K - put into inflation calculator and thats 92K - but the GT350R had....

-bespoke motor
-everything different from the GT from the A pillar forward - not just different bumpers and some suspension pieces

I dont think inflation quite covers it.....

With apologies if I’m wrong, this has the feel of a cut and paste-up job.

It's the economy folks!! I heard just a couple of days ago that's there's over 5000 new C-8 Corvettes sitting on dealer lots.
My 2020 BULLITT with all the options was priced a bit over $53K. My 2024 GT Premium without Performance Pack was a bit over $56K. My same car in a 2025 is at $60K. Salaries haven't increased to make the difference whether it's at the car dealership or the grocery store. I think sales being down isn't because of tuning! If young kids could afford a new GT rather than a high mile Honda Civic, they would have one.

Don't... Nobody cares what you do. I'll be going for a spirited drive in my premium s650 with the performance package, nite pony package, active exhaust in about ten minutes having a wonderful Sunday. 😂

I'll tabulate another total of the threads, pages and comments later. There's just not enough time in the day.

After at least three sales-specific threads totaling 90 pages and 1172 comments, with one Member eventually becoming banned, :computerrage:, I feel we've exhausted this topic. :puke:
