If having a business photoshop my car and use it on their website is the worst thing to happen to me today, I'd still feel very blessed. Take it as a compliment.

I like discounts.
I'm not a lawyer, but I think that if you post anything to a corporate or business website you are most likely giving implicit permission for them to use your post and photo. It's probably buried in the fine print somewhere on their site that says something like; that by posting on our site, anything that you post here is ours to use as we see fit.

Just my opinion so don't shoot me!
you’re probably correct. Still a shitty thing to do.

You don’t have any kind of real case, you’d just flush 10s of thousands in legal fees to get shut down.

take it as a compliment.
I wonder if I can reach out to somebody over there? Maybe they’ll throw me a bone?

this is just my opinion, but, i dont think anyone should take having something they own the copyright to copied, edited, and used without so much as a "just so you know, we're using this" as a compliment. its like people who take art from an artist's page and edit it, then try to use it in their portfolio as an example of their work to sell commissions

The fact is, by changing the color it’s not any kind of infringement.

there is a legal percentage, they made more than enough changes to the original

Honestly, let it rest! Years ago, I had a 2008 BULLITT Mustang. A very popular cruise magazine used a picture of my car among others to advertise their magazine. I was happy to see my car in the picture beside cars that belonged to two great friends who have since passed away. When I look at that picture today, I don't think of the magazine making money but I do think of my best friends.
I have also submitted pictures to American Muscle with product reviews. I feel that when I submit pictures, AM is free to use them as they wish. Be happy that you know your car made a magazine cover. You now have bragging rights. In the end, you won't become a millionaire over this issue. Since the car color and scenery is different, this would be a difficult case.

Let AM give you a discount or some other offer and then thank them for it. I doubt there would be anything else for you. Remember, it is a car photo and not a DNA discovery etc.

Yikes. Sorry to hear OP. Great photo, but that is certainly your vehicle based on the reflections on the paint.

This should probably be a gentle reminder to us all that whatever you post on the internet is never private... someday that low quality nude selfie we all took from 2009 may surface too. 🤣 Double yikes to that!

Take it easy, the main thing is, not to get excited.

Send them a nice email asking what's up and see what they say.

2020 F150 4x4 Limited. 2024 GT Mustang Premium. Both in Rapid Red.
I recently came off a 2.5-week tour and luckily got to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family. Soon after, they went back to work or school and I was left on my own for a few days. While looking through the mail, I found the Christmas copy of the American Muscle Catalog. As l gazed at the cover adorned with a beautiful, red, 2024 Mustang, parked in front of snow-capped mountain range, I thought…wow, that car looks pretty badass. As I took a closer look, the car began to look strangely familiar to me. Was it the color? The rims? The stance? What is it? Then it dawned on me that it was my photo of my car. I dug through my phone to find the original photo I took after completing the suspension in my garage and confirmed it. Every intricate detail within every reflection proved it was my photo of my car. At first I was flattered thinking, “Wow, they like my work, whether it be the car or the angle of the photo.” Then I was like “WTF?” You photoshop my work, change the color and the background and call it your own? F___ you, b___h!
Thoughts?

If someone republished one of my photos, I would say.
Thank you

I don't mean to be mean, but you posted it on their website. That is how these companies always do their catalogs. I would be willing to bet there is some fine print that allows them to use anything you post on their site. I think this is a non issue. BTW all of these people calling for Lawyers and copyright infringement, have any of you ever sued for copyright infringement?

Be happy they used your picture ask them for a gift certificate and let it go.
