What are the reasons that sales of Mustangs are so low? My take is that Mustang fans are now in their seventies and probably not in the market for a 2 door coupe. The high cost is also preventing a new, younger generation of Mustang buyers. Ford needs to do something that will create the enthusiasm that the original Mustangs created. Something that would attract both older buyers (maybe a 4 door? a Hybrid?) and younger buyers (more value at lower cost?). The Mach-e is outselling the gas Mustang, so what can Ford do?

Still, all performance coupe cars are down, trash talk like this is just "internet noise" and a waste of time.

When still the best selling reduced counts would imply industry wide totals have decreased, forest and trees come to mind.

There is no solution for the mustang, it’s a demographic shift.

the solution for everything else is fully autonomous networked vehicles and ride share schedules.
Ala Tesla, waymo, uber/lyft, Blue cruise etc…

Let's see. Four doors to satisfy a family's needs, or to justification for a father with kids owning a 'sports car? Or perhaps a V6 to appease the wife? Nah, I think not!

Cost is a major factor. I would consider a hybrid.
On this forum owners over 40% paid cash-no financing, I do not believe "Cost is a major factor" argument.

That being said, the economy overall has sucked. This could be the issue. Choosing more intelligently where money should go is at the forefront of everybody's mind.

Not true

BMW stated at the beginning of the year that the M2 rose by 64% in 2024 compared to the previous year

But another member said because they still sell less M2's than Mustang's, it doesn't count.

This is a discussion that cannot be had here.

It may have something to do with "you will own nothing , and you will be happy"

Just be glad we have them for now...

Going to copy and paste my answer from another thread...well regurgitate anyways....

Mustang used to be a cheap crappy car with a solid motor that most could afford then have fun modifying over time - modifying them is what made owning them fun

Now they are awesome cars - but almost fully cooked if you know what I mean and you pay the price for that

A fully loaded GT in the late 80s/early 90s was something like less then half the cost of a fully loaded 3 series - now I think the GT is more then a fully loaded 3 series BMW (would have to check)

The issue is while Ford raised the bar on 90% of the stuff- and while the interior is good - go sit in an M2 and compare it to a Dark Horse ...the interior in the BMW is just nicer ....sorry (the quality of the interior sucks compared to the M2 also so dont take this as an S550 guy slamming the S650)

I think the solution is to make Mustangs crappy again (but cheap) (and so you can tune them)

I still remember when adding headers got you 25hp on a fox body - its what made it fun

Stangnet back in the day- the threads were all about what headers- what cylinder heads- what shifter- what rear end - which sub frame connectors - what gears - which intake - exc....

Now the threads are about what screen protector are you using - cameras- shift knobs - panel gaps and why do sales suck -

modifications are basically...do you want a whipple or do you not want a whipple ...thats it
