Drove a Charger as a rental car last year. Not a fun driving experience. Handled like an ocean liner with terrible sight lines. Did not instill confidence. Handled worse than my Tacoma.

Well the Charger EV might not be appealing, but there is a turbo V6 "six-pack" in the works, so we'll see how the reviews go, but that trim may be an option for muscle car enthusiasts, even without the Hemi.

wow, even a low ball company like this can still make a dash that actually looks like a dash, in an electric car.... instead of just slapping 2 ipads on a shelf and calling it a dash....
(might want to rethink your setup for next model ford...)

Nah, the 2024 premium dash is great! Can't believe how much more I like it over previous models of mustangs that I've owned.

I spoke to a California Highway Patrolman manning a CHP booth at a car show not too long ago, where they had a Charger sitting there, and asked him how he liked it compared to the old Crown Vics. He said there was no comparison - the Crown Vics were way better. Handled better, had better acceleration, had more room, pretty much everything they needed was better provided by the Crown Vic.

I wonder which planet that cop was on when he made those statements? Because on Earth a car that weighs 4,000 lbs. and makes only 230 horsepower and has floaty suspension like a Cadillac is not even in the same category as a Dodge Charger. A Charger with a 5.7L engine will walk off and leave a Vic like the Vic is parked, and the Dodge cars handle very very well. Their handling is one of the most under-rated aspects of that Mercedes-sourced platform. I also doubt the interior space claims, because the last Dodge car I had was so roomy inside I could put my feet flat on the floorboard directly forward of the seat frame and my knees still wouldn't hit the steering wheel (I'm 6'3"). Try that in a Ford.

I mean if you like driving a sofa, then sure, the Crown Vic is king, a sectional with 4 wheels.

So these cars are FINALLY hitting dealers this week. Here's what we've learned so far:

- Can't do burnouts in them. Dodge CEO McAlear or whatever his name is says that they will update software to allow burnouts in the "Stage 2" variants later this year. Pathetic.

- They've gotten 82 orders for this car. Think about that. They went from selling almost 80,000 Chargers annually to getting only 82 orders for the new one. Eighty two. This has the makings of the worst flop in U.S. automotive history.

- If you do the math on the lease "deal" they are advertising, it appears that the new Charger Daytona has a residual value somewhere around 40% at 36 months. That's significantly worse than any other new models Dodge/Jeep/Ram has released in the last 5 to 10 years.

- A significant number of these new Chargers have arrived at dealerships in "bricked" status and have required battery swaps and/or manual software updating to get them running again. Can you imagine what that's going to cost out of warranty??

- Dodge CEO says due to feedback, they are going to accelerate production of the "Six Pack" version with the twin-turbo Hurricane I-6 and it should go on sale this summer. AND, he now is saying that the possibility of a V8 engine is there. Quote: "Never say never." Credible sources are stating that they're already working internally to extend V8 production in other models, and they are testing V8s in the new Charger across the border in Mexico.

I hope Ford is taking notes and sticks to their motto to build V8s as long as they can.
