Time will tell regarding EVs. No shade to the F-150, it does what it was designed for, and reliably.

MEh EV those who want one already have one. And no they aren't the future. Do they have a use case yes. IS it in every driveway NO. Notice you don't hear mandated by xx year anymore other then comifornia. That's because the supreme court smacked the governments over reach.

For clarification, CA's state legislature crafted and passed their zero-emissions policies and standards. Twelve other states have since adopted the same. As of today, the legislation mentioned is in-tact.

I always encourage people to turn in to YouTube, C-Span and other channels; they offer unfiltered, unedited video and audio of anything from SCOTUS arguments to Congressional legislative actions and hearings to WH pressers.

Obviously, there are going to be changes with the incoming Administration. Individual states are currently crafting legislation in an effort to protect state's rights they are concerned of. Stay tuned.

Since each year emission ‘standards’ improve does requiring an intact emission system for prior year result in ‘mandated pollution’? If the user is able to improve the efficiency (increase mpg) but is unable to perform said modification does the ‘requirement’ lock the vehicle into a known degraded emission state?

This is some insight on those topics I studied previously.

--------------------------------

This morning I reviewed anything I could readily find on EV legislation in CA.

If the existing timeline is adhered to, all new car sales in CA will eventually involve zero emissions. I did not study the use of carbon credit trades, alternative fuels or hybrids. It was clear new, gasoline, ICE-only vehicles of certain weight classes (primarily passenger vehicles) would no longer be sold.

Existing, in-state, used gas-powered vehicle sales are not affected and will continue. Any used vehicle will have to comply with existing emissions and inspection requirements for those Model Years (MY).

I was interested in out-of-state sales and registration, new and used.

With the exception of a handful of unique situations and circumstances, any new or used out-of-state vehicle imported to CA, to be registered, must comply with the CA emissions standards for that MY. The idea of buying a new gas-ICE and registering it in CA will eventually be a non-starter. Buying and attempting to register a used, non-CA-compliant car is now and will continue to be a no-go.

In-state ICE vehicles can continue to be maintained, as long as they meet the standard for those MYs. People can rebuild and refurbish drivetrains, as they do now.

Above is the situation as I understand it today, any aspect of which, if not all of it, can change. There will be court cases and legislative events. I always encourage people to tune-in to those and study the proceedings.

My Coworker had the C8 when they first came out and it was MAD COOL to see in person. He canceled his order and just picked one up from a Dealer. He took me for a spin and scared the Crap out of me!! Those things are FAST and HANDLE LIKE A DREAM. At that time, I had my S550 and wasn’t far off in HP but he had me on weight reduction!! A LOT of weight REDUCTION!! I never tried him tho. 😆😆😆. Getting in and sitting in the passenger seat was a chore and I’m just not in to being that confined but don’t get me wrong, those cars are AWESOME!! Don’t know that I’d own one but prefer my S650 GT.

True story, I bought a 1984 Z28 it had aftermarket T-Tops, I bought a donar car cut the roof off and replaced it with a full non T-Top roof. It was that scary what they did to make it work.

In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with either one. I’m on my 4th Corvette and our latest purchase is the 1st Mustang we’ve ever owned, I’m satisfied with them both. I’m a car enthusiast at heart and if I had “don’t give a $h!t money” I’d have a stable full of all kinds of performance vehicles, both domestic and foreign, classic and current production. It’s a great time to be a “car guy”.

I had an 84 Camaro with factory T-Tops….hotter than two hells in the summer and leaked like a sieve when it rained,
