EDMUNDS U-DRAGS: Ford Mustang Dark Horse vs. Dodge Charger Daytona EV

Are you just now figuring out that electric is quicker? This is a known thing. The new Roadster supposedly will go 0-60 in under 1 second. The new Charger is not good for it being a "performance" electric vehicle. Electric grocery getters are just as quick as this new Charger.

Yea it's almost like I already said the Tesla model 3 performance is a full second faster (and cheaper) than both of these cars

I thought they could have hit the brakes harder and taken the turn faster than they did in the dark horse, did not see much tire sliding on the turn, especially with the handling package. the second driver was better also, made it close to the end. can not believe how much that dodge weighs, would go through tires fast! the dodge just looks bad too and those fake sounds lol

Dork Horse got spanked! I had a small amount of hope that it would come through in the turn-around and at least make it within a car length or two.

I like to Race EV’s off the Line.
I can’t ever beat them but they have to Charge their EV sooner.

This was 100% something I was thinking while I watched. Not that I am skilled enough to pull off half the stuff you see stunt drivers do, but I could have sworn they could have taken those turns far more aggressively than they did!

They weren’t using the rtr edition, need to activate the drift brake to slide the turn

Not really. First off, it's fun and entertaining. Second, both cars have been cross shopped in the past (their predecessors) and both are the current top of line models.

HP on it's own is a pointless information if we don't look at the weight as well. 500hp on a truck that pulls 40 tons is something different than on a Mustang and looking at the weight:HP rating the Dark Horse has a better ratio making it on paper the faster car. However, the tech in the EV is vastly superior in most cases so the car with effectively less HP wins...

I don't think that many on here would even consider the EV but the comparison doesn't hurt anybody and is fun to watch. On to the next one.

I think the difference in AWD, HP, and to quote you, "the tech in the EV is VASTLY superior in most cases." is very on point. There are superchargers available for Mustangs, so maybe next time an apples-to-apples comparison would actually be fun, entertaining, and very informative. The weight based upon the two races was a nonissue in my opinion. But the other "tech" features were an issue. Anyway, thanks for letting me know I shouldn't race against EV Chargers with a scat pack. Glenn

The whole point is to race stock for stock lol
They got the highest trim of each and raced it. You can add a ton of stuff to any car and then claim ya let’s race it. Why not race it with a twin turbo full race build, of course the modded car is gonna win. The whole point of udrag series is to race a car from the factory against another car from the factory since that’s what most people care about.

Agreed, but let’s not do a disservice by limiting results to specific tasks. The fun comparo is just that but a detailed analysis would suggest discrepancies.
