Not sure how they can dig themselves out of this hole. The car is marketed to nearly no one. Muscle car enthusiasts aren't gonna wanna touch it. EV enthusiasts would rather spend the 60-70k this thing costs on another probably better EV with more range. The only people this car is gonna attract are extremely well off people who need every new shiny car, but those people are not enough to keep the market that the previous Charger commanded. Seems like a DOA car
Every so often a car comes along, and you're just like, who wanted this? Case in point, the Robocab Tesla just revealed. A completely driverless can with no steering wheel or pedals, meant to shuttle people around, and it's shaped like a 2 door sports car.

It's like "Huh?" That's a terrible shape for a driverless shuttle, and if you're trying to appeal to car enthusiasts by offering a sports coupe shape, guess what they like to do? Drive themselves.

I'm about to take hard bets! No matter that the EU or the US power-that-be mandate, electric vehicles will never become main stream! After all, the US went through the same scenario back in the 1920s. Sure, the Baker electric plowed ground, but by the late 20s, they were holding on by the skin of their teeth.

We can discuss hydrogen, natural gas, and a few more alternatives, but the truth is, the world will still be using fossil fuels well into the 2050s. Fact is, if the truth be known, Elon Musk has already designed an ICE version of their model 3! Long live dead dinosaurs.
I'm not so sure about that. We as enthusiasts may not like them, but EVs are better for casual consumers. Less repairs and maintenance, no need to go to a gas station, no fluid changes, fewer things to break, more refined, etc.

That's why I'm not completely against EVs, because I see how they make normal cars better. A gas powered escape is nothing special, but give it a super responsive and fast accelerating electric motor, drastically reduce the center of gravity and concentrate more of the mass between the wheels with the battery, make the wheels bigger, and give it smaller overhangs which look better, and now you have something. It's no mustang GT, but it's objectively a better, and a more exciting car than a gas powered crossover with a 3 or 4 cyl sewing machine motor.

With that weight I wo
almost TWO thousand pounds heavier.

holy heck.

that’s just plain disgusting.
Yeah sorry, I added an edited portion to my original comment after realizing my mistake. I've pulled 2 all nighters and gone on 4 flights in 3 days to attend a funeral. So I was just out of it lol. I've since corrected my comment.

Y’all better hope they don’t sell well, because 11.2 EV is fast AF!!…

And its big boat ass will hurt A LOT of feelings.
Not quite hellcat fast, but pretty dang close.
I don’t see these selling well at all. I checked with multiple dodge dealerships and they’re on allocation. Most of them have told me that the allocation hasn’t been claimed for a couple weeks. Plus it’s 60-70k without markup, which these will have. There are faster and more engaging EVs out there for that price range, so I don’t understand the market for this car

At that weight, things will deteriorate pretty quick.

1) tires. If we think the Trofeos wear out quick, these guys will be keeping tire suppliers in business.
2) suspension. I have buddy with an F150 Lightning. He’s on his 2nd set of shocks at 27k miles.
3) Remember this is a passenger car that could be hauling up to 750 pounds of people in it and that kind of power - I would be very concerned about durability.

I do agree though, great for the zombie apocalypse or peaceful protests- I can see an aftermarket front attachment that would do wonders at crowd dispersal.

So I'll likely catch a lot of flack for this, but from a purely design perspective I love how the Robovan looks. Yes, I know it won't get over bumps larger than a pimple. However, compared to everything else I've seen from Tesla save for the vaporware Roadster, I think it's the best looking Tesla out of them all.

Different audiences, plaid is 4 door tech bro supercar

Dodge is trying to create a new segment 2 door MUSCLEV
Will the 2 door muscle ev crowd grow when they see their car get beaten by most sports cars in the price range, over the price range, and under the price range? That’s what I’m not getting really, why go for this car over numerous other offerings that are not just a better performance car, but also a better car in general? Haven’t even gotten into stellantis reliability/problems

Oh, the robovan I love. I'm not joking, I do my own design projects, and I did a cargo van inspired by art Deco styling, including the lines running down the side. It was funny to see a Tesla designer had the same idea.

But I'm weird, I made an electric compact truck design that was intended to look like a mid-engine supercar. It's a work in progress, needs actual wheels lol, but that's kinda what it'll look like.

You think EVs are good for local commuting? Go over to YouTube, and look up MGUY. It won't take very long for anyone to change their mind!

EVs are great for commuting if you drive at lower speeds and know how to be smooth. Our maverick hybrid finishes trips with more range than it starts with all the time with due to all the regen. I can't remember the last time the engine got to operating temperature, I'm so smooth, it barely turns on. Trucks 2 years old and probably only has 5,000 miles of engine wear on it šŸ˜‚.

I brought up the Robovan earlier, but imagine a production-spec Ford Supervan 4/4.2 Electric... Potential Pacifica/Odyssey killer right there!

ā€˜LOL. No worries. I’ve done that without a valid reason.
