A predator can make 1060 TO THE WHEELS reliably in its sleep with just a few tweaks.

Also expect GTD to be hundred(s) of lbs lighter than the ZR1
Badass flagship for Chevy though!!
So is the predator pretty bulletproof then?

From what I’ve seen those cars are reliable in the low teens.

That's why I kept repeating that Ford better do more with the GTD. TURBOS. Not SC. You get way more power.

brick vs blade though…..

ponies, snakes, stringrays, and sharks, gonna be interesting
This. The S650 profile in any form is a brick, whereas the C8 has the aero profile of a razor blade. Huge differene in speed.

Still waiting on GTD final 'Ring times. Something tells me they are still tweaking and won't be done until the Zr1 releases its own 'Ring time.

Then again, a DH Premium with Recaros + Handling Package is about the same price as a C8 1LT Z51 these days...
Dark Horse pricing is just rough with the limited allocations. Putting the same packages on a Mustang GT is easily ~$20k cheaper with dealer discounts.

I’m going to guess 1500hp for the Zora, if they actually make one. Of course, it will have electric motors to help it make that power.
that’s actually what I’m hoping they do with the GTD since it looks like they’re supercharging. add electric 300hp or so to an 850-900hp v8 And have an off the line killer in addition to a corner king.

It will be a 350k car most probably. Their target customer are lambo, ferrari, and GT3 owners with warranties about to expire... 🤣

I'm not even sure that if there weren't limited allocations/production Ford would even be able to sell that many more DHs. It's in the same price range as a C8 Z51 and if you're not already a Mustang fan, chances are you'd gravitate towards a mid engine rear wheel drive platform for the same price.

I agree. Personally, I think Ford missed the boat on the Dark Horse with just a minimal horsepower increase over the GT. Horsepower is the name of the game in today's muscle/performance car world. Would I spend several thousand more on a car that is only making 14 horsepower more than my GT? No. While the GTD meets the horsepower standard, the $350k price tag is out of reach for most. The C8 is a much more refined car, and I think more bang for the buck. I like my Mustang, but I don't love it like I did my Corvettes. I'm not saying it's a bad car, just doesn't check all the boxes for me like the Corvette. If I had to do it over, I'd probably go back to a Corvette. At the end of the day it's a matter of personal preference.

Ford has also been plagued with recall and warranty issues, which resulted in a cost of $2.3 billion over the past 3 months. Seems to me they need to focus on that and get quality and reliability issues under control before do anything else.

Considering Dodge consistently made more HP than ford and ford never felt the need to respond, I doubt this will be any different. Ford seems content with what they have, although I’m sure the next gt500 will probably be close to 900 hp. The real embarrassment for ford would be if this new zr1 beats the GTD around the Nurburgring. Either way with the challenger and camaro gone nobody’s exactly pushing ford anymore, the corvette is in a completely different class especially now that it’s mid engine. If you want to see fighting in the hp and torque department go to the heavy duty truck world.

Well, that's pretty much the problem for Ford once you consider the C8 Z51 sells for about the same price as a DH Premium with Recaros and the Handling Package. Heck, even the G87 M2 undercuts the DH Premium with Recaros and the Handling Package by almost $15k.

A DH with HP and Reco is about 74K, a Vette with same options and Z51 is about 84. You have to go to at least 2LT Vette to get the DH premium style upgrades.

First of all, Z06's are now under MSRP.
Many members on Corvette Forum have deposits on ZR1's at MSRP.
And for whoever said if the ZR1 laps the ring faster that the GTD, get real. It will be 5-10 seconds faster, that's an eternity. I think it will give the GT2RS a run for it's approx 6:50 something record. The GTD will be lucky to get under 7 minutes. The vette will be 150K less.

Mustang does not compete with C8 corvette. I don't care if they get close in HP or whatever. Compete is beyond just times etc...it is also in an experience and the overall feel. The C8 is a Lamborghini/Ferrari competitor in spirit and experience. If you grew up with the countach all over the wall, I think you know what I mean...the unattainable made attainable. The mustang will never compete with that without being mid-engine, 2 seater with a similar profile. This is why Mustang needs to carry on as it is where it has success, and it is time for Ford to bring an attainable C8 competitor maybe wearing the Thunderbird or Pantera name. The GT is not attainable or even still in production. Maybe the ZR1 won't realistically be either but the C8 is and the Z06 is now too at a higher but still reasonable price point for what it competes against. A few years ago Ford renewed the T-bird name and were benchmarking a C8. I wish that had been a sign of them going all in. What there isn't a market for anymore is a two seater, lazy "cruiser" which is what the previous T-bird was so any clamoring over a mid-engine sports car is not what the T-bird is would be ridiculous. It could have a grand rebirth and compete against the Corvette like it was supposed to do in the first place.

They'll likely weight the same

The ZR1's quoted 3600-3700 dry, so call it 3900-4000 curb.

The GTD's been quoted to be in the range of the GT500, ie 4100-4200. Holt says they're targeting to drop another 75kg/150-160lbs, but that still puts it in the 3900-4000lb range. I'm sure it would be a matter of principle and marketing to get the GTD under 4000lbs.

TLDR - they're both gonna be piggies that'll perform
